What are Vibram soles?
Share
Founded in 1937,
Vibram® has since become the leading manufacturer for rubber soles.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BRAND:
The story of Vibram is deeply rooted in the founder of the company’s life:
Vitale Bramani was a talented mountaineer of the Italian Alpine Club and the entrepreneur who invented the Vibram Carrarmato sole.

In 1954, a team of Italian mountain climbers, equipped with special Dolomite boots with Vibram Carrarmato soles, conquers K2. It marks the debut of the specialization of shoes by using different models for each leg of the expedition: trekking, approaching march, altitude, high altitude.
In 1988, Vibram introduces the grip concept. The first super-adherent rubber sole designed for freeclimbing; it will be used by all the greatest champions.
Most rock climbers will be familiar with this concept.
Since then, Vibram has developed numerous concepts of rubber soles. From mountain to rock climbing, lightweight soles for urban usage to trekking soles.

So why use Vibram® sole only? Really it’s a no-brainer. Top designer brands like Balenciaga & Off-white to Japanese cult favourite brand Visvim all have the yellow logo slapped on their footwear.
One of my all time favourite product is from the collaboration of creative director Mattew Williams & Vibram, Nike x MMW Free TR 3 SP

Apart from the recognition from fashion brand, as a cobbler I have dealt with multiple different rubber soles and am ever so impressed by Vibram® soles. The consistent quality of traction, durability and comfort far surpasses most others.
And so, over here at Classified Footwear, when it comes to any Custom Resole or Resole job, you can expect us using Vibram® soles.
